ISABELLA’S BLOG – PRETTY IN PLUM

One of the most interesting things about my visit to China last month was the different foods that we got to see and try! There were some foods that were a little too adventurous for me, but I did love all of the interesting kinds of fruit that they had. Like the amazing Dragon Fruit!

The Dragon Fruit was the prettiest “plummy pink” colour with bits of gold around it! It tastes a little like a kiwi fruit. I loved it so much I thought it would be awesome to use these bright colours to inspire me this week! How cool are they – and they’re sure to brighten up a grey winter’s day!

This new jumper in the 8fourteen range reminds me of the Dragon Fruit! Especially, with it’s cute little jewel detail! (just like the pips!)

If you are a fan of this pretty plum colour, you might like to wear it in a dress – either all over colour, or a hint in the stripe. I LOVE the sparkly golden detail on the elbows of this dip dyed jersey dress.

Another way of adding a hint of plum to your Winter outfit is with a scarf! This one is so cute with it’s fluffy tassels, and it looks awesome with my cold weather “must have” item – my black puffer vest with furry hood!

What better way to finish a shopping spree at 8fourteen then with a smoothie! Maybe you could try adding some Dragon Fruit to your next smoothie; it’s yummy blended with strawberries or banana, yogurt and a little honey if you like it extra sweet.

So say good bye to a grey winter’s day and add a little plum to your outfit!

ISABELLA’S BLOG – CAMO COOL

I had a favourite pair of pants when I was 3 years old – they were these cute little camo/military style pants with lots of pockets that I could put my treasures in. I loved them and used to wear them all the time (I actually still have them – you can see how faded they are because I wanted to wear them all the time!  The cool thing about a camo print is that you can pair it with other prints, or use it as the feature piece of your outfit. Now, 8 years later, I still like to wear this style!

1. Studded Tartan Shirt – $59.95

2. Cargo Pants – $69.95

I think the military style trend is one that most girls will try out sometime – and with such cute pieces why wouldn’t you, as you can be cool, stylish and practical at the same time! Check out the zip detail on this Khaki zipper skirt. It’s true LOVE!

There are some pieces in the new 8fourteen range that fit right into this Camo Cool trend! What I love about them is that they all mix and match so you can create an outfit that suits how you feel that day! See how all of these tops below would go with any of the bottoms!

1. Peplum Pocket Tee – $39.95

2. Hooded Puffer Jacket – $79.95

3. Sequin Shoulder Tee – $34.95

4. Feather Print Leggings – $29.95

5. Cargo Pants – $69.95

6. Zipper Skirt – $49.95

You can go all out and style your whole outfit using this trend…. Or mix it up a little and experiment with some different colours/fabrics.

Whichever look rocks your style, there’s a way you can be Camo Cool this season.

ISABELLA’S BLOG – MY CHINA TRIP

Recently, I was SO LUCKY to get to go on a school trip to China with 13 of my classmates. We spent 2 weeks there, going to school, sight seeing, and experiencing this different culture.

We got to do so many amazing things, like visit the Great Wall, a traditional Chinese Tea House, and the Summer Palace. At school we participated in some Chinese lessons, and sports such as Wushu. We had to wear these special white martial arts suits to our Wushu class!

At the Tea House I was presented with the most beautiful white Chinese style dress to KEEP! It has really pretty embroidery on it with shiny thread and plum coloured flowers

One of my favourite parts of China was the SHOPPING! I got heaps of shoes, clothes and accessories! At the Silk Markets you had to choose what you wanted to buy, then bargain with the vendor and agree on a price to pay!

During the school week, we mostly had to wear our school uniform or tour shirt (which our teacher Mr Robson designed!) but on the weekends we got to wear the cool outfits that we had taken – and by cool outfits, I mean we were rugged up as it was really chilly, about 5 degrees! Thank goodness I had my Witchery 8fourteen sleeveless vest, my hooded puffer jacket and leopard print beanie – they all got a work out as I wore them all weekend!

It was amazing to see the national dress and costumes of the Chinese school children. These photos were taken at the sports day we went to. The children were really friendly and always smiling! How cuuuuute and colourful do they look!

I know I was SO lucky that I got to go to China and I hope that you get to go one day too!
