MEET SOME OF FASHION’S MOST FAMILIAR FACES-By Fashionising

Based in London, with a job that takes her to New York, Paris, Milan and beyond, Tania Braukamper rubs shoulders with some of fashion’s most familiar faces. Meet them here.

Based:
London, Great Britain

Favourite restaurant in your hometown:
Oskar’s Bar; Whitfield St, London. Dabbous upstairs has a Michelin star, Oskar’s Bar downstairs serves a lot of the same fare with a bit more informality and without the long reservation list.

What is the key to having great style?
Being confident in what you wear, knowing what it is you’re wearing, and wearing it well. Style comes down to confidence. If you don’t feel what you’re wearing, particularly as a man where your fashion choices are far more limited than the fairer sex, that’s going to be conveyed to everyone around you. They’ll intrinsically know that you’re attempting style but that it doesn’t come naturally.

Which menswear trends or looks have you been loving/wearing this spring/summer?
I’ve spent a lot of summer in really hot parts of Europe, so I haven’t been shy when it’s come to partaking in mid-thigh length shorts. A lot of this spring / summer has also been about accessories for me – I’ve been big on nautical themed wrist straps and metallic sunglasses.

You travel a lot for your job. Do you have any tips for travelling in style?
Learn how to pack. I pack by colour – everything that goes into my suitcase has to match, colour wise, with everything else in there. So in summer, you’ll find a lot of whites, blues, greys and reds in my suitcase. It’s very easy to create a different looking outfit with a limited selection of clothes and accessories when everything matches.

The Anchor & Hope in Waterloo.

What do you think is the key to having great style?
It’s about always remaining yourself. There are so many people who soak in every trend that they understand to be big for that current season – and you can tell the ones who don’t dress it to their sense of style. You see it at fashion month: the editors that actually know how to dress – even though they’re very trend driven – you can always see their own style shine through. You can tell someone who’s not confident in their own sense of style.

What key trends have you been indulging in / loving for spring/summer?
The return of the ruffle skirt – I don’t even normally dress very girly, but definitely the ruffle skirt. Neoprenes, sporty and boyish looks, really sleek wide leg pants, espadrilles, shirts tied around the waist.

What are your tips for travelling in style?
My style is pretty basic anyway so I stick to what I wear normally and what I’m used to.

Based In:
New York

Favourite restaurant in your hometown:
In New York my favourite spot is a Japanese place called Village Yokocho in the East Village. They are open until 3AM and the food is amazing and very cheap. In my hometown, Buenos Aires, I have many places I like to go, but as live in the US and I go few times a year back home – as almost every Argentinian – I like to eat meat when I go there. ‘El Chango’ is a traditional rural restaurant that serves the best ‘bife de chorizo’ and french fries in the world.

What do you think the key is to having great style?
Being honest with your own personal taste. It’s all about being comfortable with yourself. You can see who is trying to be someone else and who has a real personal style.

What menswear trends or looks have you been loving/wearing this spring/summer?
I tend to dress the same all year round. I’m loving my Belstaff and vintage motorcycle leather jacket.

Tips for travelling in style?
Travel light and take 3 or 4 of your favourite pieces, and a lot of basics like black & white tshirts and jeans.

Favourite restaurant in Bucharest?
Van Gogh

What do you think is the key to having great style?
Always be loyal to yourself and dress the way your heart tells you. I think style is when you’re yourself, when you feel comfortable, and you love yourself the way you are.

What key trends have you been indulging in / loving for spring/summer?
This summer I’ve really been loving maxi dresses and skirts, and leather pieces. Though in summer it may sound strange, I think leather is really great for the evenings.

Tips for travelling in style?
Pack some basic pieces – like a white tank top, black jeans, a white blazer – so you can mix them up with everything and wear them in every situation.

Favourite restaurant in New York?
Waverly Inn

What do you think is the key to having great style?
Wear wherever you feel cool in and whatever makes you comfortable.

What key trends have you been indulging in / loving for spring/summer?
I wear a bit of everything. One day I can be really elegant, the next wear low crotch pants… I don’t necessarily follow runway trends but I keep up with what Acne, Alexander McQueen and Damir Doma are doing.

Tips for travelling in style?
Never wear skinny jeans – they’re really uncomfortable on a flghts
